Searching for a sunset

Yesterday I did slow down by not going out most of the day to give my leg some well-deserved rest. But in the afternoon there was a small chance for a colourful sunset so I couldn’t resist and went to the westernmost point of the island, aptly called Westerstrand (western beach). While I walked to this beach it started snowing, and it didn’t stop for the rest of the afternoon. The circumstances were magical and brutal at the same time and my camera took quite a beating with the snow; it stopped working multiple times on the most unpredictable moments: turning the ISO dial, flipping the screen, looking through the viewfinder, etc.

So working to get photos was quite hard. And I didn’t get a sunset, just some colours in the sky. Beautiful, definitively, but not what I hoped for in terms of a sunset.

However, with the snow I didn’t complain at all. I searched for compositions in the dunes with the dune grasses, some more close-ups, some more vistas. There is definitively more work to be done here, but I’m happy with my first results.

And after sunset, way into blue hour when the snowfall turned into a blizzard I made my favourite shots of the day. Needless to say I was very satisfied with the results of the day, albeit worn out by the weather. In the end it was nice to be back in my cosy warm apartment after three hours in the open.

Enjoy!
