Company 😊
As I’m writing this I start realising my photography retreat is nearing its end. But not before spending a long weekend with my sweet and loving wife, Hélène, on this island, Schiermonnikoog. Hélène arrived today and it was great to be reunited with her after close to two weeks wandering the island myself. After installing her belongings in the apartment we went for a first walk to the Northern beach, close to the lighthouse. A good thing with her present is that you can see me as photographer in action. Plus, I returned the favour of photographing her, all warmly packed against the cold wind.
While on the beach I searched for patterns once more, plus trying some new approaches with people in the background. Usually I don’t like to have people in my frame but I must admit that it adds perspective, so maybe I should do it more often. Staring for so long to the sand I noticed a few feathers, half buried in the sand, making some interesting compositions. I don’t know whether they were new, or if I wasn’t paying attention the previous times. Probably the latter. I like the way they turned out, so next time on the beach I definitively will search for more.
All in all we didn’t go for a long walk. The light was fading rapidly and as you can tell from the photos it was quite cold. The snow and frost might be gone but with the wind at the coast it still feels cold.
Hélène and I are going to enjoy our weekend together here, focusing also on some birdwatching. I’ll try to write a blog or two, but no guarantees there.
Enjoy!
