Our first day: A rainy start, and a lovely walk through fields and woodland

Today started lazy, with lots of hard rain in the morning. Still tired from the drive of yesterday we took it easy. My morning photography was taking my camera out on the balcony to take a few photos of the view in the rain.

Like us, the cows were lazy, many of them hiding close to trees to enjoy the little protection the leaves offered. Later that morning we observed a red kite and two ravens flying by. There are times when I don’t reach for my camera, but simply enjoy the spectacle. This was one of such moments as both red kites, and ravens are pretty rare where we live.

In the afternoon the weather cleared for a few hours. Time to put on our walking boots and hike through the fields and woodland towards the Rur valley. We didn’t reach the river, but could already hear it. We enjoyed the views, flowers, trees and insects.
