On the high moors, around the ‘Schwarzes Venn’ and ‘Schwarzsee’

Today is out last day of holiday. We decided to go for another walk in the high moors; we were in luck with the weather and enjoyed a beautiful day. Early on I discovered another orchid from the Helleborine family; I think the Mueller’s helleborine, which is a rare plant, but fits the description and biotope.

I took the photo from a rather comfortable position 😉.

We had our lunch near the ‘Schwarzsee’, and time for a quick selfie.

Along the route there were many different species of butterflies, as you see below.

I even found this lovely little mushroom scene.

And a gnarly tree.

And I tried my hand on some long-exposures. Here’s one of 2.5 seconds, handheld, no tripod. I have a few others, but they need some more processing.

The river you see here is the Rour (French), Rur (German), Roer (Dutch), which finds its origin in Wallonië, travels through the Eiffel in Germany, to end in the Meuse near the city of Roermond in the Netherlands. An interesting fact: I was born nine kilometers from the Roer, and am now visiting its origins in Wallonië 😊.
