Portraits of wild flowers in the Bemmelse Waard

It took me some time to wrap my head around a new project. In the end, this project surfaced in a natural way from several ideas after I bought a macro lens and noticed more and more wildflowers in our local floodplains. Inspired by Theo Bosboom’s ‘Flowerscapes’ and work from my digital friends of the 617 club, I started exploring different styles of ‘portrait shots’ of the local wildflowers. I eventually converged on two styles: a more traditional heads-on shot, and a bug’s-eye approach in which I position my camera below the flowers and shoot diagonally up.
